This month’s Pet of the Month is Helen, a silky black 13 ½ year old cat. She started coming to Dogwood in December 2006 for alternative treatments for kidney failure and has since begun acupuncture, adequan injections and supplements. Helen is also on a waiting list for a kidney transplant at the University of Pennsylvania. We have had to do lots of testing on poor Helen to make sure that she is a good candidate. Furthermore, transplantation requires a matching donor cat to share a kidney with Helen. Helen’s owner will then take in the donor cat to live with them. We all hope that they find a match soon for Helen!
