PetSmart Inc, the largest U.S. pet-products and services retailer, recalled seven of its Great Choice Dog Biscuit products as a precaution against possible salmonella contamination because the peanut paste was produced by the Peanut Corp of America (PCA). The treats can be returned to PetSmart for a full refund.
Symptoms of salmonella poisoning in dogs may include diarrhea and vomiting. Please call us immediately if your pet has been exposed to the above-mentioned peanut butter treats.
Oregon has had both animal and human cases.

It is pretty scary that nobody thought earlier to include pet products in the general advisory by the FDA to discard and not eat any products containing peanut butter paste.

Our dog likes a treat with peanut butter made by a local company. I stopped giving them to him and wrote the company to find out where their peanut butter came from, which luckily is organic and from Canada. That is the only peanut butter based treat he is allowed to have.
